My Illustrations: Nanny Avvai

Hello Everyone!

Adhikshita here! This experience of mine was when I was nine years old. I had a chance to illustrate the book Nanny Avvai. Alamelu Vaidyanathan, the author, has explained the first 12 Aathichudi verses in this book, Nanny Avvai. I was reading this book without knowing I would be illustrating it.

Disguised as sparrows learning the Aathichudi code from their teacher, Nanny Avvai, this book teaches us the 12 Aathichudi verses of Tamil literature.

I understand that I have been repeating the word Aathichudi many times. You might be asking what it is. Well, the ethics code penned by the Tamil poet, Avvaiyar over two millenniums ago.

After I read the book, Ms Alamelu Vaidyanathan asked me whether I could do the illustrations for the book. I was thrilled to do the drawings.

I had started the illustration and had to do a picture for every chapter and the cover page. It was 13 images. Once I was done with it, I was very excited for it to go online. here are some of the illustrations:-

I have enjoyed this experience. I have learned a lot from it.
